Oh, What a Relief!

The change of seasons can mean an increase of allergens for some and we just happen to have a potent and great tasting blend designed for such an occasion! Our Relief custom blended tisane combines organic lemongrass, rosehips, ginger, citrus, licorice root, sage, peppermint leaf and cloves to provide a blast of deep mentholated relief from colds and allergies. It's a highly functional herbal blend that also tastes great for those seeking a rich, slightly spicy, aromatic cup of tea at any time of day or night. Here’s the scoop on some of the key ingredients:

Lemongrass (sometimes called citronella) is a tall stalky plant having a fresh, lemon-like aroma with a citrus flavor. Lemongrass contains several antioxidants while also having anti-inflammatory as well as antimicrobial properties.

Rosehips – this tangy fruit of the rose plant is often sought to reduce inflammation, for detoxification, boosting immunity and promoting cardiovascular health due to the presence of flavonoids, carotenoids, polyphenols, catechins and other phytochemicals. Rosehips also contain helpful vitamin C and quercetin.

Sage is a highly fragrant herb utilized by many as a natural way to help dry up respiratory mucus while soothing mucous membranes. It has been shown to have antiseptic and antibacterial properties and is sought out for its anti-inflammatory and cleansing properties.

Cloves offer intense aromatic properties while the eugenol content is sought for helping the body resist toxicity from environmental pollutants, serving as an anti-inflammatory agent and providing antioxidant flavonoids. In Ayurvedic medicine, this fragrant spice is used in teas to help lessen the symptoms of colds and flu, acting as an expectorant and relieving congestion.

Peppermint contains menthol, menthone and other essential oils that go well beyond helping with digestion. Its antibacterial, antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties may be useful in fighting some symptoms of colds and allergies while the menthol may improve the perception of better airflow in your nasal cavity.

Licorice Root has been utilized for centuries in Chinese medicine for those seeking relief for sore throats and coughs due to its anti-inflammatory and expectorant properties.
