We are pleased to offer various size options for your tea purchase. Note that due to differences in bulk density between teas, we may need to split individual tea selections into multiple pouches in order to prevent leaf damage. For instance, while 8 oz of one particular tea may fit nicely into our large pouch, 8 oz of a more bulky tea (e.g., white tea), may require splitting up the 8 oz item into multiple packages. Additionally, we will try our best to accommodate special requests when it comes to packaging. For example, we are happy to combine two one-ounce selections of the same tea into one package for convenience upon request. Please use the "Order Comments" field on the checkout page to make such requests.
We work hard to source great teas from around the world while trying to maintain sensible pricing. Our pricing model includes several built in discounts based on the quantity of each tea ordered. Rather than rely on typical "sale" or promotional offers, this model provides you with dependable, every-day discounts with no need to wait around for the next sale or promotion to stock up on your favorite tea. And, while we put the spotlight on our outstanding matcha teas each year during our March Matcha Madness event, discounts for purchases of multiple units of matcha can be enjoyed year-round as seen on the respective product pages.

All loose-leaf tea purchases are final and are not subject to refunds of any kind. Should your tea be defective or your order incorrectly filled, please contact us within 48 hours of receiving your order to arrange for replacement.
Tea ware and accessories may be returned or exchanged only if defective upon delivery.
Returns and exchanges of tea ware and accessories are allowed within 30 days of purchase and must be accompanied by receipt. Goods must be returned in original packaging.
If you need to return or exchange an eligible item, please contact us with your order number and details about the product you would like to return or exchange. We will respond with instructions for how to return items from your order.
Our primary goal is to get your tea to you as quickly as possible. Most orders are filled and shipped out within two business days from the date of the order. Should filling your order be delayed beyond that, we will attempt to notify you of the potential delay.
Once USPS/FedEx tracking information has been obtained and your package is ready to ship out, we will send you an email notifying you of this status.
Should an item be returned to us by the carrier due to incorrect shipping/address information provided by the customer at the time of purchase, customer is responsible for paying any applicable costs for re-shipment. Should customer wish to cancel the order, any shipping costs incurred by Modern Steep are not eligible for refund.
Shipping rates to addresses within the United States (excluding Territories) are as follows:
Domestic (U.S.) Addresses
- Orders of $60 or more qualify for FREE SHIPPING.
- Orders under $60 are subject to flat rate shipping rates as displayed in map below.
Domestic shipments are shipped using FedEx, USPS Priority Mail or First Class Mail (depending upon weight), with tracking numbers.
Canada & Other International Addresses
Due to extraordinarily high shipping rates and associated tariffs, we do not ship outside of the domestic United States. Special requests may be considered on an individual basis. Please contact us with your inquiry.
Modern Steep is not responsible for packages that are determined or reasonably assumed to have been stolen; therefore, you should ensure a safe place for delivery. Package theft is one of the fastest growing crimes in the U.S. For added assurance, consider having your package addressed to a secure location (e.g., your place of business, post office, etc.). After all, we want you to enjoy your tea as quickly as possible!
