Organic "Holy Basil" Tulsi (Ocimum Sanctum) from India is an ancient medicinal herb used for 5000 years and said to reduce the effects of daily stress and aging, enhance clarity, boost immunity and stamina. Tulsi contains cell-protecting compounds known as phytochemicals. Tulsi has strong antioxidant, antibacterial, anti-viral, and immune system enhancing properties. Tulsi is also considered to be an adaptogen, helping the body adapt to stress. It is part of the mint family and a close cousin to the basil family. It brews up a strong brew having notes of sweet basil with subtle mint characteristics and a slight earthiness.
Our Tulsi Holy Basil tisane is a blend of Rama, Vana and Krishna varieties of tulsi. Rama is a green leaf variety that presents a cooling effect much like cloves and mint might offer. Vana, or "Wild Forest" tulsi, has notes of clove, mint and orange. Krishna, or Purple Leaf tulsi, gives the blend a light peppery spiciness with cinnamon notes.
There's no better way to relax and forget the day's worries than sipping on a cup of warm Tulsi.
Each ounce will yield approximately 10 eight-ounce servings. The leaf may be re-steeped 2-3 times to yield additional robust cups of this healthful and delicious herb.
Note: We updated our custom Tulsi blend in October 2020 after seeking out larger cut, higher quality leaf material for each cultivar. We then added more focus on the Rama cultivar resulting in a blend having slightly less menthol effect (e.g., less medicinal tasting) while offering a more rounded, subtle minty-basil finish.
